Inclusive Design Goals
Accessibility
Spanbound is designed so the study loop can be reached with a keyboard, a single pointer, or a touchscreen. The pilot is still being tested, so this page describes goals and known work rather than a certified audit.
1. Input & Navigation
The crossing loop is built around a single hold-and-release action, and Academy answers can be chosen with keys 1–4 or by tapping/clicking. The website includes a skip link and standard focus styles.
- Keyboard access to menus, tabs, the simulator, and the answer choices.
- Touch targets sized for phones and classroom Chromebooks.
- Escape closes overlays such as the guide or pause menu.
2. Visual & Cognitive Considerations
- Stable playfield: the question and answer tray reserve space so the stage does not resize between questions.
- Readable answer strip: answer choices keep the same width as the question surface, including on mobile.
- Reduced motion: the site respects the system
prefers-reduced-motionpreference where animation is decorative. - Non-violent, low-anxiety design: no combat, jump-scares, or gore.
3. Pilot Status & Feedback
This is a first-user testing build, not a completed VPAT or Section 508 certification. If a control is hard to reach, a question is hard to read, or a layout breaks at your screen size, please report it. Accessibility issues are treated as pilot bugs.
